Meet Carrie!

As an experienced impact entrepreneur and idea junkie, Carrie has spent years building and funding results driven ventures. She is the Founder of EmpowHERment, Inc. – a nonprofit organization empowering girls and women to lead, and the Founding Executive Director of GreenLight Fund Charlotte - a national venture philanthropy organization scaling innovative social impact solutions. Over the last decade, she has invested in a variety of start ups and residential real estate.

Carrie loves inspiring leaders in the public, private and nonprofit sector to take bold, measurable actions. While building her professional career in each of those sectors, she also built a personal 7-figure investment portfolio. Carrie believes women of color must create generational wealth to drive more equitable economic, political and social outcomes.

Driven by curiosity, Carrie and her Mom set out on a journey to visit every continent and after exploring more than 25 countries together over a decade, they accomplished the goal together in Antarctica! Connecting with people, ideas and resources around the globe shaped Carrie's passion to help folks all over the world expand their impact. Her husband, Marc, is her new travel buddy and partner for life who's always down for an adventure! In 2021 Carrie and Marc ventured into hotel ownership, started the rehab of their 100-year-old bungalow, and welcomed their greatest blessing - a baby girl.

You can find Carrie laughing with family and friends, watching sports (and talking trash), rehabbing homes, volunteering and exploring new countries. She has been featured in local and national media and is the recipient of several recognitions including: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Woman of the Year, Maya Angelou Young Leader Award from the United Negro College Fund, Global Shaper from the World Economic Forum, Emerging Leader of the Year from the YWCA Central Carolinas, Young Public Administrator of the Year Award from the National Forum For Black Public Administrators and the Harvey B. Gantt Community Service Award.

Carrie credits her faith, family, and friends for helping her continuously grow.
